Busy With Electronics Trade Shows

So this blog was being updated rather infrequently. But I've been quiet for the last few due to real life obligations at regional electronics trade shows. I've thought about posts for the most unserious gadget seen and to point out the potential new "it" items.

Items like the discoteque on the desktop definitely were a big challenge for the most unserious gadget seen. It was a PC speaker with a built in LED flashlight pointed at a 2" motorized rotating mirrored ball. Plug it in, turn off the lights and you can almost stage your own Saturday Night ...

Firefox 3.1 Beta 1 Soon?

This is as quiet as I've seen the development trunk of Firefox be for a while. Looks like a code freeze has been thrown up in preparation for a beta 1 release. You can get the official universal binary nightlies (and even binaries for non-Mac platforms *gasp*).

An 0.8pre GStreamer Songbird for PPC

So while I'm in the process of hacking up songbird's build scripts for the gstreamer binaries to fulfill the request from Stephen, let me publicly announce an 0.8pre nightly from last week for folks to play around with. (Builds over the last week haven't been testing properly, so I'm posting the last working version I have.)

This version almost definitely will not work on 10.4 due to 10.4's libiconv being too old. This version may not work on your PPC OS X 10.5 as I've tested it on only one ...
