New New Songbird 1.0 Mac PPC build

Recovering Email

So one of the less happy tasks of recent times has been file recovery duties.

From the age before the tech bubble burst, I've kept a couple of excite.com email accounts alive for online throwaway registrations. Take the email and resell it to spammers, because it only gets used when I need another throwaway registration.

Unfortunately about 6 months ago or so they switched their backend mail handling to myway. Ugly, overly bloated, inefficient and generally a pain in the ass to be avoided now. So I've been waiting for someone to develop a new FreePOPs lua ...

Sieve Finally

So I finally got around to doing it. After the move from UW-imap to dovecot, I noticed that dovecot supported server-side sieve filtering for email. Rather than writing filtering scripts for each email client that hits the imap server (squirrelmail, Mail.app, Mulberry, etc) to move the email caught by spamassassin, I installed the dovecot sieve and managesieve via FreeBSD's ports system and configured them as per the wiki instructions.
