After LegCo decides to hold an inquiry in to the allegations of government interference in to academic freedom, the Executive Council and Donald Tsang Yam-kuen fire back with their own investigation.
He {Tsang Yam-kuen} made the announcement after a special Executive Council meeting. Legislators plan to discuss the issue at the end of the month, but government officials - including Education Secretary Arthur Li - will not now attend that session.
To paraphrase and localise the internet buzzwords of last week, "I'm up in your education concern meeting playing all of your games on my handheld!" I guess it would have been poor timing to have Arthur Li get caught at a LegCo meeting playing his video games. After all playing the video games on his PDA only displayed Arthur Li's true undivided concern for all stakeholders in Hong Kong's education system. But I guess that wouldn't be as bad as having Fanny Law going to LegCo and suggesting that the government won't consider anything a problem until more than two members have committed suicide. So the only alternative is to bring the whole whitewash in-house and keep the liabilities safely away from confrontations where they might blurt out the truth.
